From its earliest beginnings, sake has been a drink of reference combining family, friendship, and tradition and consumed to mark important occasions. The first sake production began around the same time that rice cultivation was introduced to Japan from China about 2000 years ago. Founded over 40 years ago, Taiwagura is located in Miyagi Prefecture about 300 kms North of Tokyo.
